About Gustav Balderdash

I have had the need to draw ever since I was much smaller than I am today.

Thankfully I was always encouraged to do so, and over time it became clear

that drawing was what I wanted to do when I grew up.

And upwards I grew, I found myself in Southampton,

surrounded by a group of creatively minded people.

Competing with them drove me to evolve, exploring many new creative avenues.

I enjoy working on corporate identity design and branding in print and digital media,

but in order to escape the screen, I like to get more hands-on

when producing my own personal work with glue, scissors, pens and paper.

I spent some time in New York, at a post-production studio,

which opened my eyes to other areas and mediums of the creative industry

that I now really enjoy using, such as motion graphics.

I returned from New York with a creative kick up the arse,

and the idea of a small creative collective started to brew

between my close creative friends and I.

On the 26th of October 2006, theundergrowth.co.uk was launched

as a small online portfolio for this group.

I am currently working freelance, actively seeking new challenges

for both myself, and The Undergrowth.
